KLM Ikan Biru

I have often commented, that if all the WW2 Wrecks in Indonesia were to be accessable, Indonesia would have a WRECK DIVE list longer than Pulau and Vanuatu combined. This speciality dive perspective for Indonesia, is on the verge of being openned. The following WRECK DIVE departures are available in both 2007 and 2008. However for planning purposes we are presenting the 2008 dates only. If in fact you wish to dive the following programs in 2007, please contact us for availabilty. On the other hand, advance planning is important for the sucess of this type of new program and please consider the 2008 dates a bookable NOW.

WRECKS DIVED
Kuretake Maru (5,175 tons) Transport Vessel.
Date lost: January 24th 1942
Sunk by the USN destroyer Paul Jones
Lying in 35m, this is a fantastic wreck for two warm up dives.
All dives will be conducted on open circuit nitrox / Trimix doubles with a decompression mix or closed circuit rebreather with adequate bail out gas.

Tsuruga Maru (6,988 tons) Transport Vessel.
Date lost: January 24th 1942
Sunk by the USN destroyer John D Ford
Lying on the starboard side, she is the deepest of the wrecks at 60meters with most of the dive at 50m.
This wreck is great for penetration in her many cargo holds. All dives will be guided. Any penetration will be within the light zone unless divers are Suitably qualified for cave or wreck penetration. All dives will be extended decompression dives in line with the individual’s certification and experience. We will dive early and maximise the surface interval between dives.
Run times of 150 minutes are common.

Tatsukami Maru (7,064 tons)
Ammunition Transport Vessel
Date lost: January 24th 1942
Sunk by the USN destroyer Paul Jones and Parrott
Nicknamed “The Bomb” wreck due to the amount of ordinance exposed in her cargo bays, This is the largest of the 4 wrecks over 120meters in length
Dive depths between 38m / 60m.
Trimix recommended for any dives deeper than 50m.

Tatsukami Maru (7,064 tons) The second series of dives on this wreck allow for much deeper penetration.
Manoura Maru (3,519 tons) Transport Vessel
Date lost: January 24th 1942
Sunk by the USN destroyer John D. Ford.
Two dives on this wreck before traveling back to Balikpapan Harbour.
