Vessels for Sale & New Construction

2008 .....SUMMER SPECIALS WORTH LOOKING AT

If you have come to the point in your life where sailing or chartering as a lifestyle is your goal, a few of our Traditional Fleet owners are interested in selling their vessels. The reasons behind these decisions vary, but for the most part they are in no way a reflection of the vessels condition or durability. Indonesian Pinisi's have a normal life span of about 15 to twenty years. This calculation, is applied for the most part, to commercial usage and you can be assured that even with the most basic of maintenance, these boats will service your needs for longer than many of us will live. For this reason, your investment in a nomadic life style through out Asia or the near Pacific Islands is a safe bet to be one of the highlights of your life. The following list of boats is offered for sale on an as is bases. Surveys are often unfounded reports, prepared locally, and inspection is going to be your best bet. In the event you are interested in discussing purchasing any vessel seen in our brokerage, please e-mail songnyc@uninet.net.id.

Building Your Own...with SONGLINE YACHTS of Indonesia

Building a boat in Indonesia is nothing like buying a boat in Fort Lauderdale. There are many factors that need to be understood culturally, material wise and most construction prices are made based on friendships with long time relationships. We have been here for over 13 years, developing these relationships with "most" of the local builders and our interior and finishing crews are well briefed in what we create. Building a boat here in Indonesia takes at least one year and our service is to provide project oversight and design assistance in the creation of a vessel you will be as proud of as we will be.

Construction project # 2004A was started in July 2004 and was completed in the first quarter of 2006. This fine 25m design has incorporated many of our best concepts and deck plan layout. She will be moving to Thailand in 2007 as a private yacht for our European client, who is just starting to explore Asian Waters in this new phase of his life.

Meet KLM Embaku (My Sister)

In 2006, we were awarded a contract to construct this fine design titled 2006A, which is for the most part the same vessel however as 2004A, just little longer at 29m. This vessel is presently under going sea trials and was completed in 2007. The owner of this fine vessel, has met his budget targets by installing re-built main engine and power generation systems, which we find good value for money.

Design 2006 A is named KLM SongThai, she will be headed to her new home in Phuket Thailand to operate for her new owners Max Marine. This fine vessel will operate short 3 day programs to the islands around the resort of Phuket.

In 2005, the construction and design aspect of our business has continued to grow, with the finialization of a contract for a 34 meter (Model 2005B), schooner to be operated in the Asian region as a expeditionary liveaboard dive vessel. The objectives set out by our client strive to create a vessel to service the upper end of this market with a very limited number of cabins (6) all on the main deck with each measuring 4x3m. Using local craftsmen, we will create a minumalist / traditional tone, with crew accomodation below, decompression chamber and NITROX systems to provide the absolute best for the owners client base.

This fine vessel is presently complete and making ready for sea trials..

Meet the lovely KLM Atasita, when I first saw her the day this photo was taken off the coast of Bira, South Sulawesi, I must admit that I become a little emotional. We are proud of this vessel and she will soon start a 5 star liveaboard operation here in the Republic of Indonesia.

PROJECT NEWS

  • The owner of KLM Embaku has desided that size is a key to constructing here in Indonesia. He has therefore desided to place KLM Embaku on the market for sale and to construct a new 34 meter version of the same vessel. This special design will boast "twin" engines and keel has been put in place on the May 25th, 2007 and is slated for launch in the 2 quarter of 2008.

  • We are pleased to note the SongLine Yachts has been awarded a contract to construct a 38m Pirate Vessel Replica for Harlaquin Properties. This fine vessel is presently underconstruction and slated to depart Indonesia for the Caribbean in January 2008.

  • We are pleased to note that SongLine Yachts have been awarded another contract to construct a 38m Liveaboard dive vessel for an Itailian Investment Group, Keel laying for this vessel will starting as of October 20, 2007, the vessel is schedule to operate in Indonesian waters in 2008/2009 as an upmarket liveaboard diving vessel, with that special Italian standard of fine service.

Now back to trying to make a dission to build or not !

The Selection of a builder is likely the most important decision that a potential owner will make. There are several builders in the two main boat building areas of Indonesia, being Bira, South Sulawesi & Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Each of these contractors has their own idiosyncrasies, but it is important to understand that Bugis people are very proud and basically honest people. However if you leave yourself open to exploitation, you can be sure they will take advantage of you. Some of the areas, that special caution should be taken are in contract writing and wood selection. Boats are not built to spec, and if you plan on taking your finished product to another part of the world, be prepared for a true expeditionary cruise and only plan it with Pilot Charts in hand !

Once you have your boat in your hands, you will most likely be pleased with the final product, and pride will surpass all the stress experienced in the construction and design process.

As a little insight into justification of our “opinions” on this concept of building your own boat here in Indonesia, I have already built seven boats. Our “click” of long time friends have constructed no less than 25 traditional vessels, with an accumulative value of over 5 million USD. We are prepared to consult with you in the design and construction of whatever type of vessel you have in your mind. We do have a tendency to lean towards the more traditional designs, but we have already constructed a Pacific Schooner of 24m, a 25m Spanish Goleta design of the 18th century, both adapted for long range cruising with today’s technology. Adding these two non-traditional vessels to our completed projects, we are presently working on 10th and 11th projects. We have a pool of local builders, with generations of experience, with whom we have confidence in their building capabilities and understand their ready stock wood supplies of tropical hardwoods taken from the forests of Irian Jaya and Kalimantan. Our knowledge of these many species of tropical hardwoods is an important factor in insuring a quality asset at the end of the project.

With all said, we are pleased to assist not only in the construction management of your project, but we also offer an open invitation to all new boat owners to join our Traditional Fleet of Indonesia, through which you will have unlimited access to fellow Traditional sailors, crew selection assistance and cooperative buying power on all those things that you will continue to need for your boat. In addition we are in the prefect position to explain all the in's and out's of commercial operation in the Republic of Indonesia. That will cover all the necessary rules and regulations that you must be committed to follow when doing business here in Indonesia.
