Manado
with its famous Bunaken National park is the starting point of your cruise,
and has, for many years, been known as a diver’s paradise. You will set
out to discover an extraordinary variety of marine life; exquisitely colored
corals, an incredible array of exotic fish, shells, sharks, dolphins and even
whales.
  
Our 2 different itineraries
bring you to either the Bangka Archipelago and the Lembeh Strait (Itinerary
1) or to Siau and Biaro, close to the Sangih Telaut Archipelago (Itinerary 2),
where volcanoes are still "alive". Which trip will be made depends
on the guests' request and the season. The short "5 nights/6-days"
Itinerary 1,
the Bangka Archipelago and the Lembeh Strait
The trip starts at 14.00
in the afternoon, departing from the jetty of Hotel Santika Manado and Dive
Center Thalassa. During the first cruise day you will be able to make 1 dive
during day time and 1 at night at the dive sites you'll find up the way north.
Points to dive on are DJ Point, Tanjung Tarabitan, Batu Pendetta or Lehague.
You will be spending the night in Pulisan Bay, bordering Tangkoko National Park.
Here you'll have a fair chance to see the big Macaques, the black monkeys from
North Sulawesi, playing and finding food on the black-sand beach. After dinner
a night dive in the bay can be a good conclusion of the day.
Depending on the guests'
interest the second until fourth day you could either cruise to the Lembeh Strait
or to the Bangka area or make a combination of the two. The fifth day, Mimpi
will slowly head back to Manado, dropping you off at our jetty around noon.
Of course you will be able to dive on the way.
If you have special requests
let us know during the registration session. We will make the itinerary according
to your wishes. However, please keep in mind, that when we have other guests
on board, we have to keep everybody happy. Look at the dive site map on another
page of our web site, to see the numerous choices in dive sites you have at
either site of the peninsula. We are sure to be able to work out, the most enjoyable
trip for you.
Itinerary 2,
Biaro and Siau
This trip also starts from
the hotel and dive center and will take you along a string of islands. The first
day you will be cruising and diving up to the most northern island of your trip
which is Siau. Here you'll have dinner and can make a night dive. Upon waking
up, you will be surprised by the unspoiled white beaches of the numerous small
islands here. You'll stay in this area for 3-4 days, diving and wandering around
the small islands with their friendly people. You will visit the islands Siau,
Biaro, Takulandang, Gangga, Taliseh, Bangka and Sahaung.
Please be aware that things
in the remote islands of eastern Indonesia do not work exactly as they do back
home: time, in particular, is of little relevance, the concept of privacy may
be quite different than in the West and most daily facilities we take for granted
simply do not exist.
